description: New year new me?
---
I'm trying to be a bit more aware of time passing this year. This was meant to be something of a retro for January, but already a significant chunk of February has passed as well.
So, uh, great start there...
## What have I done?
January started with a wild and windy walk in Brighton. We learned that it's worth taking a hood if you want to go walking in a yellow storm warning. We also learned that it's quite hard to get 4 sodden people warm and dry in a house that's a little cold and damp itself. We retreated to the comfort of our car's heated seats as soon as we could.
It's marmalade season again, and this year we replenished our stocks. Certo once again proved to be an awkward thing to find (Sainsbury's near Screwfix 👍). This year only half of our jars set, forcing us to reboil the liquid half - it seems to have recovered with no ill effects

It's been a pretty good month for seeing people - another one of my goals for this year. Birthday walks with people, board games round our house, impromptu visits in passing. Nice one! Let's try to keep it up
## Health
Classic January things. Time to lose weight, be fitter, and conquer the world!
**Weight:** 86.7kg -> 85.7kg
- It's the right direction, but probably within the noise
- On the other hand, if we multiply that be 12, I should be in a much better position at the end of the year
**Running:** 36km
- An OK start
## Meta
I need to find a way to get this blogging thing a bit more seamless. Reducing friction will be a key to making this stick - as with so many other things in life
